Tell me if this is you….
You’re trying to meet the disparate needs of 25-30 students, including several who resist your most creative efforts to engage them.
The curriculum is demanding, and you’re also charged with preparing your students with future-oriented skills, even though your technology skills are not what you would like them to be.
Working with peers in an collaborative online environment, you gain new skills and ideas that empower you to engage even the most difficult to reach students.
It’s a flexible problem finding and solving process that you can use to connect curriculum to real world problems that are important to your students, while tapping into their love of technology.
Skilled facilitators and design thinking and technology experts are there for you throughout.
Teacher Professional Learning Designed with Your Busy Life in Mind
6 Social offers you hands-on professional learning you take from the privacy and comfort of home.
You work collaboratively with small groups of peers, building new relationships and sparking new ideas.
The program consists of four modules, each of which involves 3 weekly 75 minute online sessions.
The modules are designed to give you tools and resources you can put to work right away in the classroom.
The modules are sequential, but you are able to progress as far as your time and other commitments permit.
Thanks to the support of Ontario Centres of Excellence, the first 250 teachers who sign up for the introductory module will receive it for free.
Module 1 (Free)
Begins October 15- 26
In order to implement an effective solution, you must first dive deep into the problem. We will brainstorm challenges in education that you as a teacher are facing. What do you care about? Are other problems caused by this problem? Who does the problem effect? This is your opportunity to connect with other teachers and receive tools to use in your classroom to honour the students’ voice
Before we decide on the solution, we must first discover and investigate the current solutions that address the problem(s). What works? What doesn't? Identify the gaps and make recommendations. Are there current solutions that exist that need to make some slight changes or do new solutions need to be created? Through this discovery we will then do an Ideation Solution Session.
You will feel confident and excited to begin building and prototyping your solution for some of the problems that you face in education. We will collaborate to model how to investigate & validate your assumptions by asking questions, getting feedback and developing a solution that is actually manageable to implement in your community. Get creative, with a variety of tools, brainstorm and connect with others to begin creating something incredible!
It’s time to start sharing your solution through storytelling tools. We will introduce easy to use media creation tools that you can bring to your teaching practice . It takes a community to make an idea a reality and to continue building your solution. Together, we will host an Online Community Showcase, where you have the opportunity to inspire others by showcasing your solutions to gain support, mentorship and launch your idea.
A complete set of tools to power your classroom
6 Social has researched and tested a number of apps, mostly free ones, that support collaborative learning and documentation of learning. You'll learn to use these hands-on and learn how they can immediately boost engagement in your classroom.

What could 6 Social look like in your classroom?
Other classes are using the process to explore:
social studies curriculum such as medieval cultural practices of honour and manners, compared to contemporary behaviour
the learning process itself, for example one class is exploring the use of technology to facilitate student music performances in a split level class
